Jun 28 - U.S. President George W. Bush describes Zimbabwe's presidential election a sham and calls for a strong reaction from the U.N.
Zimbabwe's government says President Mugabe is heading for a landslide victory in the one-candidate election after opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai pulled our following violence against his supporters.
As international condemnation grows, African Union diplomats say sanctions against Zimbabwe will not work and that the world should focus instead on encouraging talks towards a power-sharing deal.
