Mandela: happy to reach 90
Jul 18 - On his 90th birthday Nelson Mandela says he's happy to have reached the milestone anniversary.
In contrast to earlier public celebrations around the world, Mandela marked the day itself quietly at his home in Qunu in South Africa's Eastern Cape, inviting journalists in for one broadcast interview.
While South Africa lauded its former president in tributes and 'happy birthday' messages, Mandela spoke of his hopes for further economic equality in the country and of his feelings about having lived for nine decades.
