Dow plunges below 8,600
Oct 15 - A bleak September retail sales report ignited recession fears and sent stocks sharply lower around the globe.
Meanwhile Brazil's main stock index was down a whopping 14% and Europe's main stock indicies snapped a three-day winning streak closing sharply lower.
