Wall St. mixed after wild gyration

Oct 29 - The Dow and S&P 500 fell in volatile trade, but the Nasdaq rallied, even as the Fed slashed rates as expected.

  • The Dow lost 74 points to 8.990.
  • The S&P 500 gave up 10 points to 930.
  • The Nasdaq rose 7 points to 1,657.
  • Crude oil prices rose more than $5 to $65.47 a barrel.
