AB Volvo in Cooperation with City of Gothenburg and Others Launches Noiseless Electric Buses in Gothenburg
AB Volvo announced the Company is to launch noiseless electric buses in Gothenburg. The buses will be fuel-efficient, silent and completely emissions-free. Passengers onboard will have access to new technologies and at least one of the bus stops will be located indoors. Commencing in 2015, the electric buses are to run between Johanneberg Science Park adjacent to Chalmers and Lindholmen Science Park in Hisingen. The new buses are part of the ElectriCity project launched by the Volvo Group in cooperation with the City of Gothenburg, Goteborg Energi, Vasttrafik, Lindholmen Science Park, and Johanneberg Science Park. In addition to the electric buses, the cooperation also includes the creation and trial runs of new bus-stop solutions, traffic-routing systems, safety concepts, energy supply and business models.

Volvo AB Launches New Volvo FM
Volvo AB announced that it is launching a new truck in the Volvo Trucks' product range, the Volvo FM. The truck will be launched in Europe on March 19, 2013. The Volvo FM will be equipped with Volvo Dynamic Steering, which combines a conventional hydraulic power steering system with an electronically regulated electric motor fitted to the steering gear. The system gives the driver effortless steering at low speeds as well as unbeatable directional stability on the open road.

Daugavpils Lokomotivju Remonta Rupnica AS (DLRR) announced that its future plans regarding the cooperation with competence centers are in the stage of development. It implies the development of the new product, where DLRR could ensure the production of the assembly new rail prototype and the production of train spare parts. Possibly, the cooperation will start in a year’s time. As it was reported before, DLRR implements the project in the field of machine engineering, which aim is the modernization of the current production and of new product manufacturing. Total project is worth LVL 6.3 million, out of which European Union financing amounts to 35% of the total project. The project realization term is the second half of 2013. It is planned that the realization of the project will allow DLRR to reach a profit of LVL 1 million by 2016.
