JetBlue Airways to launch service to Cleveland

JetBlue Airways:Will launch a twice daily service between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) on April 30, 2015.Airline will bring its winning concept of superior customer service offerings and low fares to Cleveland, which will be JetBlue's 88th destination.

Finnair firms up orders for eight additional A350 aircraft

Finnair Oyj:Has firmed up the eight Airbus A350 XWB aircraft options in its 2006 A350 order placed with Airbus.Says the eight A350s will be delivered to Finnair starting in 2018.At Airbus list prices, the value of the additional eight A350 aircraft would be about 1.9 billion euro.The firm up of the options increases the total number of Finnair's A350 orders to 19.Based on the current delivery schedule of A350s Finnair will receive the first four aircraft in the second half of 2015, seven A350s between 2016 and 2017, and eight A350s between 2018 and 2023.Plans to phase out A340 aircraft by end of 2017, following delivery and entry into service of A350 XWB.Says as a part of the deal Airbus has also agreed to acquire four A340-300 aircraft currently owned by Finnair in 2016 and 2017.

JetBlue Airways Corp:Launches a new daily nonstop service from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to Orlando International Airport (MCO), one of the airline's focus cities.Utah capital is JetBlue's 24th nonstop destination from Orlando, and will provide faster connections to the Caribbean and Latin America, including destinations in the Bahamas, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Aviakompaniya UTair OAO:Aviakompaniya UTair OAO, a Russian airline that is having financial troubles amid the slump in demand for air travel services, plans to reduce the number of its flights by 20 percent and cut its staff by 10 percent in 2014-2015-Interfax.There are plans to lay off more than 800 people, 500 of them management and administrative staff and 300 flight and technical staff, a company spokesman said.He said the cuts are being made as part of UTair's cost cutting program.The company had a total debt of 69 billion Russian rubles as of June 30 according to its RAS financial statement for the first half of 2014.It attributes difficult financial situation to an increase in lease payments for new aircraft and expenditures on fuel due to changes in currency exchange rates since the start of 2014.In addition, the company said its cost of borrowing has grown since the start of this year from 9 pct annually to 14-15 pct.The series of bankruptcies of Russian travel firms has also had a negative impact on the airline's business.UTair announced a cost cutting program in the middle of the summer that calls for reducing administrative staff, optimizing the route network and accelerating passenger services.

AK TRANSAERO OAO launches flights on Moscow-Murmansk route

Delta Air Lines to add new service

Delta Air Lines:Launches twice-daily nonstop service from Los Angeles to San Antonio, Texas, beginning April 7, 2015.The San Antonio service complements Delta's daily service from Los Angeles to Dallas, which launches Nov. 3, and the addition of a third daily flight between Los Angeles and Austin, Texas, beginning Nov. 2.All flights are operated by Delta Connection carrier Compass Airlines.With the addition of San Antonio and Dallas service, Delta customers will have access to nine daily departures to three destinations between Los Angeles and Texas.
