(SGS), will transfer part of their businesses to a new sub-subsidiary (ADS).Says domestic information system maintenance and enhance business operated by Sony and SGS will be transfered to ADS on Apr.1, 2014.Says ADS will be established on Apr. 1, 2014.Says the company and SGS will hold a 0.1 pct and a 99.9 pct stake in ADS respectively.Says SGS will transfer part of the stake in ADS after the establishment, to Accenture HOldings B.V., to make ADS a joint venture between SGS and Accenture Holdings B.V.

Reuters reported that Panasonic Corp has decided to pull out of the plasma television panel business by the end of the current financial year in March 2014. With the closure of its sole plasma panel factory in western Japan, Panasonic will book an impairment loss of more than JPY 40 billion (USD 413 million) on its last remaining factory building in operation.

Panasonic Corp to Halve Health Care Unit's Production, R&D Sites- Nikkei

Nikkei reported that Panasonic Corp announced that it will consolidate the development and production facilities of its health care unit, reducing them from six locations to three by the end of March 2016, as part of efforts to raise efficiency. The move came after Panasonic reached an agreement at the end of September to sell 80% of Panasonic Healthcare Co. to U.S. private-equity firm KKR & Co. The Company will close the subsidiary's main production plant in Saijo, Ehime Prefecture, which makes ultrasound diagnosis and other equipment. About 900 people currently work there. Combined with two other locations, a total of 1,100 workers at the three sites to be shut down -- about one-third of all Panasonic Healthcare employees -- will be reassigned elsewhere. A plant in Toon, also in Ehime Prefecture, that makes sensors for measuring blood sugar levels will likely be among the sites taking in those workers. For those who cannot relocate, voluntary retirement programs will help them find other jobs.

MSN Sankei reported that Panasonic Corp will review the mobile phone business of Panasonic Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. (PMC) under AVC Networks Company (AVC), and strategically reallocate the ICT operating resources of PMC, such as its mobile communication technology, to new business areas and ares of growth within AVC. Specifically, the development of new products for the B2C smartphone market (careers in Japan) from the second half of this fiscal year will be suspended, and the operating resources will be strategically reallocated mainly to the development of platform technology shared within AVC and to the development and promotion of new businesses, including the business for smart phones for the B2B market, an area where growth is expected.

Panasonic Corp to Withdraw from Consumer Smartphone Business- Jiji Press

Jiji Press reported that Panasonic Corp is discussing plans to pull out of the consumer smartphone business. The Company plans to stop production of consumer smartphones at its major smartphone plant in Malaysia by the end of the current fiscal year to March at the earliest, informed sources said.
