Sportech PLC's Sportech Venues, Inc. Secures Approval To Provide Exclusive Online Wagering On Horseracing In Connecticut
Sportech PLC announced that its business in the United States has been granted permission to exclusively operate online wagering in the State of Connecticut on all horseracing. Sportech Venues, Inc. received approval from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) to offer Account Wagering via the Internet to Connecticut residents 18 years of age and older (approximately 3.7 million residents in the State) in accordance with State law and regulation. The approval was granted under Sportech's existing licence to provide exclusive pari-mutuel wagering in perpetuity on horseracing, greyhound racing and jai alai in the State of Connecticut, which is offered through telephone wagering and off-track betting locations. Sportech expects that this online Account Wagering platform will launch by April 2013.
Tipp24 SE Relaunches Online Brokerage of State Lotteries
Tipp24 SE announced that it has relaunched its activities on the German market. With immediate effect, German lottery players can once again submit their tickets at any time of day via the new Lotto24.de website. The re-launch in Germany was made possible by new gaming legislation in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Following the failure of the German State Treaty on Games of Chance in 2011, the ruling coalition in Schleswig-Holstein passed its own gaming legislation which once again allows the online brokerage of state-run lotteries. Operations will be managed by Tipp24 Deutschland GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tipp24 SE. It will be brokering tickets for its partner, NordwestLotto, the state lottery company in Schleswig-Holstein. Following a long legal battle, Tipp24 has also launched its new Lotto24 brand.
