Tornado, heavy rains leave U.S. mid-Atlantic battered
June 2 - High winds, heavy rains and at least one tornado damaged homes, businesses, and boats across the mid-Atlantic region, causing at least one serious injury but no deaths, officials said on Saturday.

Sipchem affiliate in 1.4 bln riyals loan for project
KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia, June 2 - Saudi International Petrochemical Co. said on Saturday its polymers affiliate has signed a 1.4 billion Saudi riyal ($373.3 million) loan agreement to finance the construction of a petrochemical project in Saudi Arabia.

Japan electricity demand rises 0.2 pct y/y in May
TOKYO, June 2 - Japan's power demand rose 0.2 percent in May from a year earlier, a Reuters calculation based on industry data showed on Saturday. That marked the fourth straight month of year-on-year rises. The nation's power demand rose for the first time in February since a massive earthquake and tsunami in March 2011 disrupted supply chains and took a hit on the economy.
