Chameleon-like actor Johnny Depp stars in the new animated Western comedy, "Rango", as a chameleon. The Hollywood superstar met with screaming fans at the Valentine's Day world premiere of the film in Los Angeles. "Rango" tells the story of a pet chameleon of the title, voiced by Depp, who faces a major identity crisis. When Rango accidentally winds up in the Wild West, the less than courageous lizard is forced into the role of hero - a part that he had only pretended to be in the past. SOUNDBITE Johnny Depp, actor, saying (English): "Ultimately, it is interesting to see people decide what is the real treasure in life, what is really worth it and what is it that we really need. Is it gold, is it oil, is it money, diamonds, whatever. Or is it water, air and we protect ourselves and we live that way." Depp has again teamed up with "Pirates of the Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski, who said there is a lot of the actor in the film's confused protagonist. SOUNDBITE Gore Verbinski, director, saying (English): "This movie was a chameleon with an identity crisis. This movie is more Johnny than any movie he has done. Our protagonist is an actor that can play any part but doesn't know who he is." Depp joins an all star cast in "Rango", including Isla Fisher, Bill Nighy, Alfred Molina, Ray Winstone and Abigail Breslin. The film opens across North American cinemas on March 4.
