The quiet Pakistan town of Abbottabad, where Osama bin Laden was killed in a raid by US special forces one week ago. Residents are sceptical about his death, and one newspaper report said it was a local bin Laden lookalike called Zain Mohammad who had been killed. (SOUNDBITE)(Urdu) 45-YEAR-OLD SCHOOLTEACHER TAJ ABBASSI: "One week has passed but it is still not clear whether Osama bin Laden was killed, or if it was Zain instead. Or if they took bin Laden to America, we just don't know." People all over Pakistan are struggling to believe the world's most wanted man was killed in their country. This resident of Peshawar on the edge of the lawless northwestern tribal area of Pakistan says it is all lies. (SOUNDBITE) (Pashto) PESHAWAR RESIDENT MOHIB ULLAH: "They are saying that Osama is dead, but nothing was shown on television, neither did we get any other proof. It is just America saying that they have killed him. A rumour has been spread around that he is dead. But he is not dead. It is all lies." Pakistan is on guard against possible revenge attacks by militants. An analyst in Karachi says bin Laden is now more dangerous dead than alive. (SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) DEPUTY CHIEF OF JAMAAT-E-ISLAMI AND COLUMNIST ON RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS, MERAJ-UL-HUDA SIDDIQUI: "Osama bin Laden has become more dangerous for America after his martyrdom. When Osama bin Laden was alive, hidden away in some corner, he was not so dangerous. But now his ideology will grow, his way of thinking will spread." That bin Laden was found sheltering in Pakistan has raised questions about the competence and complicity of the country's military. US President Barack Obama said bin Laden likely had "some sort" of support network inside Pakistan, but further investigation is needed to determine who or what that support was.
