Protesters in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Monday reject the Gulf initiative aimed at ending the country's political crisis. The deal - which President Saleh has so far refused to agree to - requires him to resign 30 days after signing it. When asked about the plan protesters chant "No!" They want President Saleh - who has ruled for over 30 years - to step down immediately. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) BASSMA YAHYA, PROTESTER: "The Gulf initiative is totally rejected because it does not include the ousting of President Ali Abdullah Saleh or his trial." (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SUMAYA AL-THEIBANI, FEMALE PROTESTER: "We do not want any initiatives even if they come from the North Pole, only the departure, the departure of this criminal, the killer who killed those youths. He is a killer and a criminal and he should go." Meanwhile, protesters in the city of Taiz face down an armoured water cannon. Security forces opened fire on those who had blockaded an education ministry building, killing three, and wounding at least 80. Thousands of demonstrators - including many teachers and students - had gathered there on Sunday, demanding the postponement of school exams. Two were shot dead.
