US President Barack Obama arrives at 10 Downing Street for talks with British Prime Minister David Cameron. Obama also met Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, before going to the Cabinet Room for a discussion with other ministers. The leaders are expected to stress a united effort to pressure Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to step down, while glossing over differences in their own governments. The issue of Libya presents a thorny challenge, with suggestions that NATO allies want Washington to be more involved with the campaign of air strikes. Obama is on a week-long, four-nation tour of Europe designed to bolster support amongst long-standing allies, and push the message that the United States and Europe must together play a lead role in global security.
