Rachel Wiggins has always loved fashion - from helping to dress her mom when she was 10 years old to shopping now as a 16 year old. Wiggins is getting an insider's look at the business of fashion behind the glitz, glamour and purple shoes at the Fashion & Finance NYC program for mothers and daughters. She's learning a lot. SOUNDBITE: RACHEL WIGGINS AND MOTHER, JACKIE CAPLAN WIGGINS, FASHION & FINANCE NYC PARTICIPANTS, (ENGLISH) SAYING: Rachel: "Great leadership skills and seeing what women can just do an empower themselves. Jackie: "I think it's been a great opportunity for her to learn besides just the fashion what looks good is that there is a business behind it." The $2,900, 2.5 day summer camp program is in its fifth year. The mothers and daughters were treated to a tour of the Tommy Hilfiger Studios, including the Archive Room with famous fashion relics and the Corporate Closet with its decades of designs. The program, run by Independent Means, is about more than visiting top designers. It's intended to show young women what it takes to run the business side of fashion. Joline Godfrey CEO of Independent Means: SOUNDBITE: JOLINE GODFREY, CEO, INDEPENDENT MEANS (ENGLISH) SAYING: "People who come to Fashion & Finance get a much more engaging way to become financially fluent." The daughters ranged in age from 13-29, but no matter the age, everyone seemed to enjoy the visit to Saks Fifth Avenue's shoe floor. Colleen Sherin, Senior Fashion Director, Saks Fifth Avenue: SOUNDBITE: COLLEEN SHERIN, SENIOR FASHION DIRECTOR, SAKS FIFTH AVENUE (ENGLISH) SAYING: "I think it' s a really valuable experience to educate to learn and also to make contacts and ultimately possible to network for a future position in the industry."
