It looked like a road to nowhere. Flooding from the Missouri River has washed out roadways in several states. Bridges spanning the river have been closed for more than 100 miles. Heavy rains and snow melt have caused the river to overflow its banks. Hundreds of people have been forced to evacuate their homes. The heavy flow has inundated farmland throughout the region --- and has prompted President Obama to declare it a federal emergency. Deborah Gembara, Reuters.
