July 9 - End of the World: Final day at the UK's scandal-hit best-selling Sunday newspaper. Deborah Lutterbeck reports

The end of the News of the World. Journalists in London prepare the final edition of Britain's historic News of the World. They say News Corp chief executive Rupert Murdoch is sacrificing the 168-year-old best-selling title to safeguard his plans to expand his media business amid a phone-hacking crisis. News Corp, whose shares have fallen over the scandal, declined to comment on 80-year-old Murdoch's agenda. Former News of the World editor Andy Coulson out on bail resigned in 2007 after one of his reporters was convicted of phone hacking. SOUNDBITE: Former News of the World editor Andy Coulson, saying (English): "I think this is a very sad day for the News of the World, more importantly for the staff. They are brilliant, to my mind, brilliant professional people and I really feel for them," he said. The paper's current editor, Colin Myler. SOUNDBITE: News of the World editor Colin Myler, saying (English): "Very sad, but I am going to join a wonderful team of journalists so they're the people I am thinking about today," he said. It is a sad day in the newsroom says political editor David Wooding. SOUNDBITE: News of the World political editor David Wooding, saying (English): "There is a bit of sadness in there - a lot of emotion, but we all love the paper. We've all come in there, none of us in there had anything to do with this phone-hacking, the staff has changed completely since then. We're all clean. We're walking out with our heads held high and we're going in to produce a good professional paper yet again," he said. News International chief Rebekah Brooks told teh newsroom Friday that the paper had become quote toxic, and that "Eventually it will come out why things went wrong and who is responsible.."
