EDIT CONTAINS 4:3 MATERIAL After one of the deadliest crackdowns since an anti-government uprisings began in Syria four months ago, mourners gathered in and around Damascus on Saturday to bury those killed. Activists say at least 32 civilians were killed during protests in Syria on Friday, including 23 in the capital. President Bashar al-Assad, facing the greatest challenge to 40 years of Baath Party rule, has sought to crush demonstrations that broke out in March. But although rights groups say some 1,400 civilians have been killed, the protests have grown. Videos posted to social media websites purport to show the funerals in the Damascus suburb of Qaboun, where, an opposition leader said, security forces killed 14 people on Friday at a venue where an opposition conference was due to be held.
