More than five months after natural disasters demolished large parts of Japan, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden visits evacuees in a shelter. These families are among hundreds of thousands displaced following the earthquake and tsunami that claimed 20,000 lives. Earlier in the day, Biden laid flowers for victims outside a damaged home in Natori. He also met with Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan. During a speech at Sendai airport Biden said Japan would recover from the tsunami just as the US would overcome its debt crisis. Japan is the last stop on Biden's Asia trip to reassure world leaders about the US economy following a credit downgrade. Lindsey Parietti, Reuters
