The ex-wife of ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra swept into court in Bangkok under the gaze of spectators and tv cameras. She came to hear that convictions for tax evasion have now been overturned. Potjaman na Pomberja and her brother were found guilty in 2008 of evading 18 million U.S. dollars in taxes. Her former husband has said the case was politically motivated. After the ruling at Thailand's criminal court her lawyer said there was absolutely no evidence against her. SOUNDBITE: Tirapat Srichaiya, Potjaman's lawyer, saying (Thai): "She wasn't involved in tax evasion because she didn't have duty to pay tax. Her actions have been honest as the number one accused is responsible for paying tax." The decision is one of several that suggests a change in the attitude of the courts since Thaksin's sister took power at premier two weeks ago. The original case was one of many against Thaksin and his family in the two years after he was ousted in a military coup in 2006. He and Potjaman were divorced a few months after her conviction.
