Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan holds tiny infant Adnan Nevic, the baby chosen to represent the six billionth person on earth. Born in Sarajevo four years after the Bosnian war that ended in 1995, Nevic became a symbol of hope for the rebuilding country. More than a decade later, Nevic and his family say the UN has done little to help him succeed in life. (SOUNDBITE) (Bosnian) FATIMA NEVIC, MOTHER OF THE CHILD WHO WAS CHOSEN TWELVE YEARS AGO AS THE WORLD'S SIX BILLIONTH LIVING PERSON, SAYING: "I thought the United Nations would be visiting him at least on occasions of his birthdays and that they would regard him as a six billionth person, that he'd receive some kind of scholarship and or that they would visit him for his birthdays. But since the day of the ceremony organised by the U.N. they never came to visit him or asked how he was doing." But most of all his mother Fatima would like to return to work. As for Nevic, the notoriety is both a blessing and a curse. (SOUNDBITE) (Bosnian) BOY WHO WAS CHOSEN TWELVE YEARS AGO AS THE WORLD'S SIX BILLIONTH LIVING PERSON, ADNAN NEVIC, SAYING: "My teachers are proud of me but my friends from class are a bit jealous because I am the six billionth resident of the planet."
