This rare pink diamond is a 22 carat beauty -- estimated to be worth 13 million U.S. dollars. Scheduled to be auctioned at the upcoming Magnificent Jewels Sale at Sotheby's in New York, the square brilliant-cut stone is exceptional because of its size and color. Gary Schuler, senior vice president of Sotheby's New York. SOUNDBITE: Gary Schuler, Senior Vice President, Director Of Jewelry, New York, Sotheby's, saying (English) "It's very pure pink. There is no orange to it, very little violet to it, a very nice soft pink color, which is very unusual. It's certainly very unusual for its size." Also on the auction block is this 33 carat, old mine diamond ring. Expected to fetch 7 million dollars, it bears the name "Light of Golconda" and is believed to be hundreds of years old. SOUNDBITE: Gary Schuler, Senior Vice President, Director Of Jewelry, New York, Sotheby's, saying (English) "We suspect that it comes from India, was cut in the 17th or 18th century. It is a beautiful, pure, pure white diamond." Also going under the hammer is "The Burma Rose", a 10 carat oval Burmese ruby ring, and this 16 carat sapphire ring expected to sell for over one million dollars. Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels sale will take place on December 7th and will include 343 lots of exceptional jewels and jewelry. Elly Park, Reuters, New York.
