In Homs, men can be heard shouting "Allah Akbar." Their yells are punctuated by gunfire, in this latest video posted to a social media website. And the city's streets are nearly empty except for these bodies. Locals say the men were the victims of Syrian military forces. Other video, which Reuters cannot independently verify, purportedly shows various anti-Assad protests from different parts of the country. Just how many people have been killed in recent days is unclear. Human rights groups say an army assault left at least 22 people dead while the state new agency reported that two people including a child were killed on Thursday. Protests against President Bashar al-Assad weren't confined to Syria --- In Egypt --- dozens of Syrians stormed the embassy in Cairo, smashing windows and destroying property inside including several phones. The U.N. Security Council is due to meet on Friday to discuss Syria before a possible vote next week aimed at halting the 10 months of bloodshed in the country. Deborah Gembara, Reuters.
