Thousands of protesters flood the streets across Syria, as the bloody crackdown against the uprising continues. Here in Idlib, demonstrators sang songs and chanted slogans against President Bashar al-Assad and his regime. In Deraa, marching protesters carried the old Syrian flag which has come to symbolise the rebellion against 40 years of Assad family rule. Reuters cannot independently verify the content of the videos. The rallies come amidst continuing international condemnation of the government's attempts to brutally suppress the uprising at a cost of thousands of lives. Tanks are continuing to bombard areas of Homs, while there are growing concerns for the fate of civilians in Baba Amr after pro-Assad troops retook the opposition stronghold on Friday. The conflict has proved the longest and bloodiest of the Arab revolts, and according to UN and Syrian government estimates is likely to have cost more than 10,000 lives so far. Simon Hanna, Reuters.
