Military officers carry a coffin into a mosque in Damascus, part of a state funeral for the victims of two massive bombings that rocked the Syrian capital on Saturday. At least 27 people died in the blasts and 140 were injured. The government has blamed "terrorists" for the attack, which comes amid a year-long uprising against the government of president Bashar al-Assad. Meanwhile, not far away hundreds of people demonstrated at one of the blast sites - a state security building. They condemned the bombings and cheered the embattled Assad, who has faced international pressure to step down amid worsening violence in the country. According to the United Nations, at least 8,000 people have died in Syria since the start of the uprising. Andrew Raven, Reuters
