Less than a week after failing to meet dismal Wall Street expectations, Research in Motion has been hit with a lawsuit.
The maker of BlackBerry smartphones and the PlayBook tablet is being sued by NXP BV - a Dutch company - for patent infringement.
The lawsuit accuses RIM of infringing on six patents with several of its smartphones and the PlayBook tablet, citing phone design and transmission of data.
NXP is seeking triple damages, in addition to compensation, and for Research in Motion to stop what it believes is patent infringement.
A spokesperson for Research in Motion was not immediately available for comment
