Fallen roof tiles litter the streets of the northern Italian town of Finale Emilia - one day after a powerful earthquake shook the region. The tremor killed at least six people - and a series of aftershocks left residents afraid to return to their homes. Following the disaster, there are worries about the structural integrity of many buildings here. But a few locals braved the rainy weather to retrieve personal items from their houses. The steeple of the San Carlo Church in the centre of town sustained heavy damage, but remains perched atop walls that look as if they could collapse at any moment. While the situation is bleak for many, residents were treated to a cup of hot coffee in the morning - courtesy of civil protection units who set up shop in a nearby sports field.
