ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION The Aucayacu River in the Huanuco Region of Peru burst its banks in the early hours of Thursday morning (May 24), flooding homes and farmland. About 100 houses and several hectares of banana and cocoa crops have been damaged. Local officials said the river burst its banks at five in the morning, taking residents of several nearby towns by surprise. Those living along the river spent the day struggling to save their belongings. The river has been swollen by heavy rains.
