A day of reckoning for President Barack Obama's 2010 healthcare law, when the Supreme court issues its verdict on the broadsweeping law Thursday. Signed into law two years ago, the Affordable Care Act seeks to provide health insurance to more than 30 million previously uninsured Americans. The court could either uphold the law, strike down crucial provisions or overturn the entire law. TOM GOLDSTEIN, SUPREME COURT ATTORNEY AND PUBLISHER OF SCOTUSBLOG.COM, SAYING: "This is the intersection of law, politics and human life - that we have a massive Constitutional question on the President's signature achievement about something that affects every single American, and it's all wrapped up in one case in the run-up to a presidential election." Recent polls show the public is opposed to the law overall, yet when asked about its provisions they approve of them. The healthcare verdict could have wide-ranging political and economic implications for the Democratic president, who made the 2010 reform a centerpiece of his agenda. The White House said Obama will learn how the Supreme Court rules on his flagship healthcare law from watching the news, and won't get any advance word on the opinion. Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters
