Belgian designer Raf Simons has big shoes to fill as the new creative director of Christian Dior. He's taking over from John Galliano who fell from grace after his anti-Semitic rants got caught on film last year. The world's fashion elite - including Vogue's Anna Wintour and nine distinguished designers came out to see Simons' debut show at Paris couture week. His inaugural collection was reminiscent of Dior's famed post-war "New Look" silhouette - with designs nipped tightly at the waist using an abundance of fabric. The designer said in a statement that he analyzed the architecturesystem.scripts. of flowers to fit the modern world. And from the looks on the faces of Marion Cotillard and Sharon Stone, the end product is a design success. Elly Park, Reuters.
