It was a 'noteworthy' day in Halberstadt, Germany. The town is home to an organ that is slowly playing through what will be the world's longest musical composition. On July 5, the organ, inside St. Buchardi church, played the 12th note in a piece entitled "Organ2/ASLSP". As SLow aS Possible" written by John Cage. The organ began its marathon performance with a pause on September 5, 2001 and the first note sounded on February 5, 2003. More changes are due on October 5, 2013 and September 5, 2020. Each note sounds continuously until the score dictates a tonal change. The latest sound is going to take a bit of getting used to for visitor Ricki Von Falken, who was very attached to the previous note. SOUNDBITE: Ricki von Falken, saying (German): "At the moment I feel that I do not really have a real connection to this new sound, I very much liked the old sound and it made a lot of things happen inside me. I am interested in how I will perceive this over the next two days. I want to come back and watch what it does to me."
