Angelina Jolie made a special trip to Bosnia for the 18th annual Sarajevo Film Festival. The Oscar-winning actress was awarded honorary citizenship as a result of her directorial debut film, which tackled the Bosnian War. Jolie attributes the success of her film "In the Land of Blood and Honey" to the local actors who helped her tell a difficult story. (SOUNDBITE) Angelina Jolie, actress, director and activist, saying (English): "It's the hardest thing I've ever done because of my deep respect for the people that really experienced it and to hope not to get it wrong. So I think it's a hard thing to tackle. I think it's important for the filmmakers to try to know what they're trying to say when they make a film and whether it's to make people laugh and make them happy or, you know, teach something about life. But whatever it is that they feel they can do, but I would say if you're going to do something about another country, make sure you surround yourself with extraordinary people from that country." This is Jolie's second time at the festival, which is considered to be the largest southern European film gathering. (SOUNDBITE) Angelina Jolie, actress, director and activist, saying (English): "Brad and I said the first time we came and soon as we left that was the best festival we've ever been to because people are here to share. They're here from all around, from Yugoslavia to knew each other to make art." The festival will run until July 14th, showcasing more than 200 regional films. Kilmeny Duchardt, Reuters.
