Florence Welch suffers vocal injury, cancels shows

Jul 11 - Florence and the Machine have canceled two gigs in Europe because lead singer Florence Welch has lost her voice. Bob Mezan reports.

Florence Welch, lead singer of the British band Florence and The Machine, has suffered a vocal injury and canceled two European performances. On her official Twitter feed, the singer wrote "I've sustained a vocal injury and been told I cannot sing for a week ... seriously I felt something snap, it was very frightening." Welch canceled a show for Thursday (July 12) in Spain and one in Portugal set for this weekend. She was told to stop performing or risk permanent damage.
