A split decision in the escalating patent spat between Apple and Samsung. A German appeals court handed Apple a victory on one count, ruling that its South Koren competitor could not sell the Galaxy 7.7 tablet computer in the entire European Union. (SOUNDBITE) (German) SPOKESMAN OF DUESSELDORF REGIONAL APPEAL COURT KLAUS SCHUMACHER SAYING: "The difference between the Apple version and the model 7.7 were insufficient. The overall impression is the same and that is why this tablet must not be sold in Europe." But that model doesn't even retail in Germany and is less popular than the larger 10.1 N Galaxy tablet, which the court declined to ban. Samsung and Apple are waging legal war in several countries. In a Californian court Apple is claiming it's entitled to around two and a half billion dollars in damages from Samsung, over patents for technology used in smartphones and tablets.
