Peter Jackson has announced that his film adaptation of "The Hobbit" will be split into three movies. The director said he made the decision after wrapping up shooting recently in New Zealand on what was originally supposed to be two films. The first, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," opens in December. The three young women members of punk-rock group Pussy Riot arrived in a Moscow court on Monday (July 30). They pleaded not guilty to charges of hooliganism over an anti-Vladimir Putin protest. They were jailed in late February after taking to the altar of Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral and belting out a song calling on the Virgin Mary to "throw Putin out." Finally, Tony Martin has died. The romantic crooner appeared in multiple movie musicals from the 1930s through the 1950s and was married to Cyd Charisse for 60 years. He was 98. Bob Mezan, Reuters.
