Local authorities have warned people to stay away.

"It's very, very dangerous for everyone in the water. The animal, because we dont know how its died we dont know what kind of fluids, what kind of disease might be floating around with the animal so we really need to make sure that everybody stays well clear, they dont go into the water and certainly not in this area at all."
Measuring over 11 metres long and weighing about 30 tonnes, local authorities are having a mammoth task of removing the carcass.
