SOUNDBITE: Jose Cardoso, Mexican tango dancer saying (Spanish)
"You meet people from Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, and people from all over the world who are fascinated by tango. We all have this in common. We like it, it's a pleasure and this is what we come for."
The sultry dance is said to have originated in the brothels of the city - making it the perfect host for the competition, says this competitor from Japan.
