Aug. 30 - Mitt Romney called on Americans ''to put the disappointments of the last four years'' behind them as he accepted the Republican party's presidential nomination. Deborah Gembara reports.

It was a theme consistent throughout the convention. SOUNDBITE: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney saying: "The time has come for us to put the disappointments of the last four years behind us." Accepting his party's presidential nomination, Mitt Romney said he will rebuild the U.S. economy by being a champion for small business. SOUNDBITE: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney saying: "And unlike the president, I have a plan to create 12 million new job." The multimillionaire businessman stressed his success in the private sector. SOUNDBITE: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney saying: "That business we started with 10 people has now grown into a great American success story. Some of the companies we helped start are names you know like Staples where the Obama campaign has been shopping." There was also an appeal to women voters. While Romney and Obama are running neck-and-neck nationally, poll show women much more likely to vote for Obama. SOUNDBITE: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney saying: "I chose a woman Lt. Governor, a woman chief of staff, half of my cabinet and senior officials were women, and in business, I mentored and supported great women leaders who went on to run great companies." He slammed Obama's performance in the White House. "You know there's something wrong with the kind of job he's done as president when the best feeling you had, was the day you voted for him." A Reuters poll on Thursday showed Romney leading Obama by two percentage points.
