ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Alice Temperley presented a timeless, ready-to-wear, Spring/Summer 2013 collection in the heart of the English capital for London Fashion Week. While many designers have been drawing inspiration from Britain's floral landscapes for their collections, Alice Temperley at Temperley London decided to reinterpret the 1950s silhouette, with full flowing skirts in cool shades of pale blue and white, block orange and navy hues, while accessorizing her models with round white-rimmed sunglasses and chic statement hats. Her decorative prints were a nod to Moorish design known for its ornate tiling and architecture. Temperley is known for her luxury evening gowns, but this season she created a collection of separates that can be worn for various occasions. Dresses made from organza, chiffon and silk were tailored and adorned with intricate beading, delicate embroidery and lace cutouts. Hair and makeup was kept elegant, with chic updos and flicks of eyeliner fitting the '50s look. The collection, titled 'Return to Elegance,' mirrored the designer's discerning eye for feminine shapes, which has won her a legion of followers including the Middleton sisters, who have been spotted in Temperley's designs. "I make clothes for beautiful women who know how to dress without trying to make a statement, and they can look back in years to come, and they'll still like that dress," Temperley said. Temperley is setting her sights on branching out to the U.S. and Asian market. The designer is also opening a new store in Qatar and a new flagship store in London.
