Just three days old, Vince the white rhino was born a month early in a zoo in the Netherlands. Zookeeper Rene Rijken said both the calf and mother Kwanzaa are healthy even though the baby rhino's arrival wasn't anticipated until the end of October. SOUNDBITE: Rene Rijken, zookeeper, saying (English): "It was unexpected because we expected it in about six weeks time. That is not terrible because he is very healthy as you can see. The rhinos have their pregnancy for about seventeen months, a month earlier or a month later, that's also normal." Vince and Kwanzaa will remain in a stable away from the other rhinos for a few months. SOUNDBITE: Rene Rijken, zookeeper, saying (English): "His father is not always friendly to very young rhinos, so we have to wait until he is a bit bigger that he can take a push from his father." The zoo is pleased with the rare rhino's arrival. It says only ten of the species were born in European zoos in 2011.
