Tens of thousands of people march in Melbourne, honouring Jillian Meagher who was murdered last week. Huge crowds turned out for the Irish woman, who disappeared after a night out last Saturday (September 22). She was found dead almost six days later. The peace march stretched for over a kilometre as people joined, many of whom had never met Meagher. It came to a stop outside the bridal shop where she was last seen alive on surveillance video. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN AT PEACE MARCH SAYING (English): "I just felt a need to stand up for women and the solidarity that I felt for women, especially having daughters." Meagher's mother Edith McKeon was in Melbourne after the event and thanked the local community. SOUNDBITE: JILLIAN MEAGHER'S MOTHER, EDITH MCKEON SAYING (English): "I would like to thank the huge support here in Melbourne, it's just been unbelievable. Just thank you, simply thank you and I hope they put more cameras out here to keep people safe and just thank you everybody, everybody for all you support." Adrian Ernest Bayley has been charged with Meagher's rape and murder. He will face a committal hearing in January.
