It's a dog's life at this luxury pet hotel in New York City. This pooch is enjoying a Paw-dicure - one of the many high-end amenities offered here. Kerry Brown is co-owner of D Pet hotels. SOUNDBITE: Kerry Brown, Co-Owner D-Pet Hotels Chelsea, saying (English) "We offer everything from overnight boarding to daycare to spa and grooming services. So, you name it, we have it. We are a five star doggie hotel." And what is a five star hotel without a spacious bed? Or a flat screen tv with proper programming? All this comes with a hefty price tag though - rooms range from $79 US dollars per day for a standard suite up to $200 dollars for a superior room. And while certainly not cheap, Brown says it's a fair price for the feel of home. SOUNDBITE: Kerry Brown, Co-Owner D-Pet Hotels Chelsea, saying (English) "Many doggies are used to having a TV, a comfy bed, and so our goal is to really create a home away from home for doggies." Despite the tough economy owners are expected to spend a record $53 billion dollars on their pets this year. And money spent at D Pet certainly all goes to the dogs.
