Eighteen school children and one local resident were killed after a landslide buried a school and two homes on Thursday (October 4) morning in southwest China's Yunnan Province, state media reported.
Rescuers worked overnight and recovered, what they believed to be the last body from the collapsed school building in Zhenhe village at 0140 local time (1700 GMT October 4) on Friday (October 5), official news agency Xinhua said.
A second landslide, which occurred just after noon on Thursday, forced authorities to evacuate about 800 residents in the area to a safer location, where they were provided with food and water, Xinhua added.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the landslide, state media said.
A series of earthquakes in the same village claimed 81 lives last month, Xinhua reported.
