The U.S. Ambassador to Japan made an emotional apology Friday following the arrest of two U.S. troops for the alleged rape of a Japanese woman in Okinawa. Two U.S. servicemen were arrested on Japan's southern island of Okinawa on suspicion of raping a Japanese woman, police said on Wednesday (October 17), a case that could again strain Tokyo's ties with its closest ally, Washington. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. AMBASSADOR TO JAPAN JOHN ROOS SAYING: "I wouldn't be honest with you, if I didn't tell you that I share some of this anger, I have a twenty five-year-old daughter myself. So, this is very personal to me. And I can tell you that all of our civilian and military leaders share my feelings. And they share my unequivocal commitment to positive action going forward." The commander of U.S. Forces Japan imposed a curfew and ordered a disciplinary retraining to all U.S. troops.
