Malala Yousufzai, the 15-year-old shot in the head by the Pakistani Taliban for advocating girls' education, recovers in a British hospital with her family by her side. At an emotional news conference, her father Ziauddin said his daughter was strong and recovering well. But he said he had initially feared the worst. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MALALA'S FATHER, ZIAUDDIN YOUSUFZAI, SAYING: "I told my brother-in-law that you should make preparations for her funeral, but thanks to God." He said the family cried when finally reunited with Malala on Thursday. Yousufzai first confronted the Taliban when she was 11 and has since become a powerful symbol of resistance to the radical Islamist group. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MALALA'S FATHER, ZIAUDDIN YOUSUFZAI, SAYING: "She fell temporarily and she will rise again. She will stand again, and she can stand now. But when she fell Pakistan stood, along with the world." British doctors say Yousufzai has every chance of making a good recovery at the special hospital unit - expert in dealing with complex trauma cases.
