Undeterred by rain, thousands of South Korean workers gathered at a rally to demand better labor conditions. Many gripped candles as they listened to the organizers of the rally. The country's once-powerful trade unions have been largely silenced by conservative President Lee Myung-bak's tough anti-labor stance. Some punched their fists into the air and chanted slogans such about overhauling the system. WIth the presidential elections approaching, they're determined to make their voices heard. The group that organized the event, is the largest union in the country with 680,000 members including employees from Hyundai, South Korea's number one carmakers.
