A remake of the Western, "The Magnificent Seven", leads this weekend's films at the North American box office, with the animated film "Storks" comes in second. Diane Hodges reports. Film fans seemed to agree with this assessment by star Chris Pratt, as "The Magnificent Seven" blaze to first place at this weekend's box office. The remake of the 1960 Western film, which was itself a remake of the 1954 Japanese classic, "The Seven Samurai" took in an estimated $35-million dollars. The new animated film, "Storks" delivered second place for Warner Brothers. On it's opening weekend, it picked up 21-point-8 million dollars. Star Tom Hanks steered the film, "Sully" into third place. The film which depicts the real-life emergency landing of a commuter jet by pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger on the Hudson River in 2009, picked up about 13-point-8 million dollars. Audiences dialed "Bridget Jones's Baby" into fourth place. The latest installment in the Bridget Jones series, reunited Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth, with the addition of Emma Thompson and Patrick Dempsey, delivered 4-point-5 million in sales. Rounding out the top five is the Oliver Stone film, "Snowden." The movie about whistleblower Edward Snowden brought in 4-point-1 million dollars.
