Don’t be fooled by Washington’s political theater, economist Jeffrey Sachs tells Reuters columnist David Rohde. The Columbia University economist says he doubts that the two political parties will “drive us into disaster” by failing to compromise before federal law imposes severe budget cuts and tax increases at the end of the year. Sachs also calls on Washington to reorient the economy to restore growth through long-term investments. (November 12, 2012)
