Syria's unrest and violence is reaching into Israel. It started with a mortar launched from Syria into this part of the occupied Golan Heights. Israeli forces returned fire, scoring what they say was a 'direct hit' on a Syrian armored vehicle.
The targeted strike came after a warning shot.
The cross border attacks have shattered decades of quiet in the Golan Heights ---- and appears to have awakened concerns that more kinetic activity can be expected.
Many see this as further evidence Syria's internal strife will plunge the region into all out war.
