Police fire tear gas to disperse protesters in Jordan, on a second day of demonstrations against the rising price of fuel. Clashes broke out in Amman on Wednesday (November 14) night, when up to 1,000 people spilled onto the streets. A traffic intersection was the main focus for riot-police in the capital, where hundreds of young men gathered. Demos erupted in several provincial towns as well. Protesters are angry after the government cut fuel subsidies to try and avert economic collapse. The price hike will see the cost of cooking gas rise by 50 percent and diesel jump by 33 percent. The government has been reluctant to increase prices amid fears of violent clashes that have erupted in the past.
