Ben Stiller honored at gala show in the US

Actor and director Ben Stiller is honored for his contributions to the entertainment industry at gala event in America. Sarah Mills reports.

It was all about Ben Stiller. The comedy actor was honored for his extraordinary contributions to film at the 26th Annual American Cinematheque. SOUNDBITE Actor, Ben Stiller, saying (English): "I'm sure it will be more roast-like than tribute-like which is well deserved. Yeah, no, hopefully it will be fun and definitely like kind of a nightmare you have to go to and know you're gonna have a whole evening devoted to people talking about you, and have to look at stuff that I've done, and stuff I've tried to lock out for years." With a career spanning three decades, Stiller was supported at the event by friends and co-stars including Jennifer Aniston and Laura Dern. Dern acted with Stiller in 2010's Little Fockers and said he was great to work with: SOUNDBITE Actress, Laura Dern, saying (English): "I mean he is a filmmaker in every sense of the word, not just when he is directing. When he is producing, when he is an actor on a film, he is thinking about the whole vision of the film, even if it is for another director. And I know that from working with him. He is rewriting. He is helping you come up with ideas." Stiller was presented with his trophy by actors Martin Short and actor Eugene Levy. He joins the ranks of other past honorees including Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise.
